We operate 24/7 and you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training/PPE/use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position Details
Position: Drainage Engineer
Location: Swindon Treatment Works, Thames Valley Region (Swindon, Wiltshire)
Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
Hours: 4 days on 4 days off, 40.25 hours
Salary: OTE £34,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About The Role
* Travelling to residential sites via HGV in a two‑person team, around the region powering a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
* Deliver good customer service.
* Maintain good H&S practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* To comply with health and safety responsibilities (PPE, safe site set ups protecting employees, the public and other road users).
* To be able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Liaise with the client regarding progress and any updates.
* Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
* Dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
* Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
* Any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.
About You
The ideal candidate will be hard‑working, respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High‑Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
