Job Overview
Hybrid role. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Area Manager to join a leading HV contractor, working on major substation projects for the National Grid. This position is ideal for someone based north of Birmingham and willing to travel as required.
Location: Rochdale or OL16 3PB (home based) with travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee multiple HV substation civils projects across the region
* Lead and develop site teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to spec
* Manage client relationships, reporting directly to senior leadership
* Ensure all work complies with National Grid standards and HSEQ requirements
* Contribute to tendering, planning, and resource allocation
Essential Experience & Skills
* Strong civils engineering background, ideally degree-qualified or equivalent
* Proven track record managing HV substation projects (National Grid experience essential)
* Must have NG Authorisations – National Grid Person (lapsed) as minimum
* Excellent leadership and team management skills
* In-depth knowledge of UK HSEQ standards with an associated qualification
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Package
* £67,000 base salary
