Secondary English Teacher (m/f/d)
St. George’s School seeks a well-qualified teacher of English to work across our Secondary School, to begin in August 2026.
The School
Serving the international community in Cologne for almost 40 years, St. George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care. The school has grown from small beginnings into a thriving community of approximately 800 pupils, aged from 2-18 and representing more than 50 nationalities.
The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth form.

The Location
Located on a new, purpose built campus on the outskirts of Cologne, St. George’s School enjoys direct transport links to the city centre, as well as to the greater area of Cologne-Bonn.
Germany’s fourth largest city, Cologne is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated in the heart of Europe, Cologne offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and cultural discovery.
Cologne-Bonn airport is located only 20km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and a high speed rail service connects Cologne to London, via Brussels.
The Role
We are seeking to appoint a qualified English Teacher to work within our team of Secondary Teachers. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking professional, who is able to build on the excellent work of their predecessor.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling pupils to achieve their potential. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching that will inspire our pupils.
Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility and the desire to support other team members is essential. A strong desire to contribute to the rich pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school will also be an advantage.
English teachers work across the whole secondary department and play an important role in monitoring pupil development. They keep careful track of pupils’ progress and maintain regular dialogue with parents.
In Middle School, pupils follow a broad curriculum in English which covers the full breadth of knowledge and skills encapsulated in the National Curriculum. In Upper School, pupils work towards IGCSE qualifications in English Language and English Literature. English is a popular option as a first language within the IB Diploma, where we offer both ‘Literature’ and ‘Language and Literature’ and 'English B' courses to suit pupils interests and needs.
Familiarity with the British education system is a prerequisite. Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is highly desirable.
