Role Summary
Pembridge Hall is an independent girls’ preparatory school (ages 4 – 11) of 463 pupils, located in Notting Hill. The Director of Sport, joining from January 2026, is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and reports to the Head of School. This role ensures a high‑quality Physical Education curriculum is delivered across Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing leadership for the Sports Department and promoting the school’s ethos and values.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage, lead and develop all aspects of Sport within the school
* Collaborate with staff to enhance the PE curriculum across the school
* Review and update subject‑related policies and contribute to the School Development Plan
* Line‑manage PE Teachers, Sports Assistants, Coaches and Club Leaders, including recruitment and timetable planning
* Support staff professional development in an open and supportive environment
* Ensure appropriate resourcing of the Sports Department, including sport equipment and facilities
* Lead and participate in Sports events—Sports Day, Inter‑House and Inter‑School fixtures, competitions, events and International Trips—often outside school hours
* Manage the school’s Extra‑Curricular Club provision for Sport, coordinating internal and external club leaders
* Promote sports opportunities across the school
* Identify talented pupils for Sport Awards and Scholarships
* Manage the budget for the Sport Department
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience leading and teaching Physical Education across the primary age range
* Commitment to the safety and well‑being of children
* Effective strategies to motivate and engage students and nurture positive relationships
* Experience with Netball coaching and umpiring
* Experience organising fixtures and events
* Strong organisational and management skills
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum EYFS, Key Stages 1 and 2 is desirable
