We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and skilled Handyperson to support the safe and comfortable running of our dementia care home. This role is essential in maintaining a homely, well‑kept environment where residents can feel secure, calm, and supported. You’ll be part of a warm, multidisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Repairs & Maintenance — Carry out day‑to‑day repairs, minor plumbing, joinery, painting, decorating, and basic electrical tasks to keep the home in excellent condition.
2. Safety & Compliance — Complete regular checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperature monitoring, and equipment inspections, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.
3. Environmental Upkeep — Maintain outdoor areas such as gardens, pathways, and seating spaces, ensuring they remain safe, tidy, and dementia‑friendly.
4. Room Preparation — Support with setting up and refreshing resident rooms, communal areas, and activity spaces to create a welcoming, personalised environment.
5. Supporting Residents & Staff — Respond to maintenance requests promptly and sensitively, working in a way that minimises disruption and supports residents’ wellbeing.
Skills & Experience:
6. Proven experience in a maintenance, handyperson, or facilities role.
7. Practical skills across basic plumbing, joinery, painting, and general repairs.
8. Understanding of health and safety requirements, ideally within a care or residential setting.
9. Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and respond calmly to unexpected issues.
