Payroll and Accounts Administrator, Harrogate | £28,500 per annum | 35hrs/week, Office Based
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll and Accounts Administrator. This is a varied, hands-on role where payroll will be your main focus, alongside supporting the wider finance team with accounts administration.
The role is full-time (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and fully office based, offering a supportive working environment and strong benefits.
You will take ownership of the monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent service to employees, while also assisting with day-to-day finance administration tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
Payroll
* Processing monthly payroll, including new starters, leavers, sickness absence, holiday pay, and maternity/paternity pay
* Administering SSP, SMP, and SPP schemes
* Submitting accurate monthly RTI submissions
* Completing monthly payroll reconciliations for review
* Providing guidance to staff on pay, tax, and National Insurance queries
* Administering employee benefits, including pensions
* Calculating and issuing P60s and P11Ds
Accounts & Finance Support
* Sales ledger administration
* Setting up direct bank payments and BACS
* Managing petty cash
* Supporting wider finance administration (training provided where needed)
Requirements
* A strong level of numeracy, educated to GCSE level (AC) in Maths and English or equivalent
* Previous experience using payroll systems and payroll procedures
* Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel
* Strong administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
* A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
