The successful candidate will join the team of 2 Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeons (from East Lancashire Hospital Trust (ELHT), 1 Oral Surgery Consultant, 1 Specialist, 2 clinical fellows, 2 dental core trainees and 1 Oral Surgery registrar.
The indicative timetable of the post will include 9 clinical sessions: 4 clinics, 3 Minor Ops, 1 GA theatre and an SPA/ Admin session. The post holder will preferably work Tuesday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit provides specialist care to Adults and Children, receiving referrals for many aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The department carries out minor Oral Surgery; under local anaesthesia or conscious sedation. The team have access to theatres where procedures are carried out under general anaesthesia. Bolton is a spoke hospital, which focuses mainly on Oral Surgery, all complex Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery procedures or patients that need an in-patient stay are transferred to the hub unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital

Job responsibilities
This post is a new LTFT appointment in recognition of the increasing demand for Oral Surgery services locally. The sustained increase in demand for both general and specialist services has led to this appointment of a part time Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery with a broad training in Oral Surgery who can complement and build on the existing interests within the Department.
The successful candidate will be a capable Specialty Dentist with an interest in Oral Surgery with extended competencies. The new appointee will be flexible and enthusiastic, possessing good communication skills and positive attitude.

Qualifications & Professional Registration
* BDS Degree
* Full registration with the GDC and hold a Licence to Practise
* MFDS or equivalent
* Sedation qualification or equivalent
Experience
* Relevant post graduate experience including the Oral Surgery Specialty
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Oral Surgery specialty
* Attendance at a recognised management/leadership course
* Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
Skills
* Independent and competent clinical skills relevant to Oral Surgery specialty
* Evidence of continual learning and development
* Competent in use of IT
