You will be joining a well-established engineering business operating within highly regulated sectors. The organisation is experiencing continued growth and is investing in its procurement function to build a high-performing, resilient supply chain that supports both current production and future product development.Your new roleAs a Buyer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement activities to support manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, components and services, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance and supplier performance.Working closely with engineering, production and supply chain teams, you will support both ongoing production and new product introduction (NPI).Key responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, RFQs, negotiation, purchase order placement and expediting
* Develop and manage supplier relationships across mechanical components, materials and subcontract processing
* Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to meet budget and cost targets
* Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)
* Raise and manage purchase orders and works orders, ensuring accuracy across technical and commercial specifications
* Support NPI and design-for-manufacture activities in collaboration with Engineering
* Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen supply chain capability
* Establish and manage long-term supplier agreements (LTAs)
* Ensure strong communication between internal stakeholders and external suppliers
What you'll need to succeed
* Experience within a procurement / purchasing role in a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Strong background in mechanical components and machining supply chains
* Knowledge of materials and surface treatments (metals preferred)
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems
* Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
* Ability to read technical drawings (advantageous)
* Experience within regulated industries is desirable
