Job summary

The Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service (SALDHS) is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs.

We cover 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services, and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability and how to make reasonable adjustments.

The service prides itself on delivering high-quality support to service users with a variety of physical and mental health issues alongside their learning disabilities. All staff are required to use a range of communication and listening skills to work effectively with our service users. Where necessary, you will be required to work at other bases or work remotely from home.

The role will focus on developing occupational therapy practice with service users whose functional abilities are impacted by physical conditions that affect essential activities. You will provide support to the ADLHS team, working with a diverse population with learning disabilities.

2. Offer learning disability and specialist occupational therapy advice, support, and training to Sirona staff and other agencies as needed.
3. Take clinical line management responsibility, providing leadership, support, development, and supervision within the SALDHS.
4. Support relevant practitioners across the SALDHS professionally.
5. Promote a positive approach to change and facilitate the development of the SALDHS.
6. Coordinate closely with Locality and Professional leads, as well as Clinical and Operational Leads for SALDHS.
7. Manage a highly specialist clinical caseload, including independent management of individuals with complex learning disabilities.
