Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Junior SOC Engineer to join our growing security team! This role would be ideal for someone who is an excellent team player, and someone who has a love and passion for IT and Cyber security. The team is made up of 5 members who all work remotely, however, have an excellent working relationship and support network among themselves.

This role can be hybrid or remote so open to applications who live within a two-hour commute to the office. The ideal candidate will have 1 years’ experience within a similar role, however I am open to speaking to people with slightly less experience.

Responsibilities

* Monitoring and using Incident Response tools such as SIEM, EDR and other IDS solutions to detect and analyse security events to detect unauthorised activity on our client’s networks.
* Support other team members by performing offensive security engagements and reviews to support consultancy services: Internal and External Penetration Testing / Red Teaming / Social Engineering etc. Web Applications / Wireless / Infrastructure Systems and Software etc.
* Support other team members in investigating incidents, conducting root cause and kill chain analysis.
* Creating client reports to deliver findings from managed services, incidents, reviews and testing results.
* Helping with promoting a good cyber security posture within the business and client environments, providing advice and best practices.
* Keeping up to date with cyber security news, industry best practices and emerging threat intelligence.
* Working with other team members to help mature, develop and tune the security monitoring tools, strategy, processes and procedures.
* Support with conducting Cyber Essentials assessments.


Qualifications

An ideal candidate will have: 1 years relevant experience in penetration testing / incident response / security operations

A good understanding of the below is desirable:

* Tools, techniques and methods in areas such as: penetration testing; web application analysis (OWASP); incident response; malware analysis; forensics; reverse engineering; packet and log analysis.
* Microsoft 365 environment – auditing, logs, BEC investigations.
* Creating, manipulating and using scripts and scripting languages such as Python.
* Commonly used techniques to gain access to networks and devices.
* Finding and mitigating vulnerabilities.
* Security operations concepts such as: perimeter defence; BYOD management; data loss prevention; insider threat; kill chain analysis; risk assessment, and security metrics.
* Good understanding of polices, procedures to support ISO 27001.

You will also be willing to work towards an industry certification such as CRT, OSCP, CEH, CHECK or GPEN and be willing to train/take assessments.
