This is a hands-on role requiring a deep technical understanding of distributed systems and data pipelines. You will have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions and ensure the team is getting the most out of technologies such as ElasticSearch, Kafka, and Redis, while also contributing to new projects and improvements as the platform grows.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines capable of processing large-scale, high-throughput datasets.
* Optimise the use of tools such as ElasticSearch, Kafka, and Redis, managing infrastructure to achieve maximum reliability and performance.
* Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to support evolving business requirements.
* Contribute to architecture discussions and influence long-term technical decisions.
* Ensure high standards of data quality, security, and system resilience.
* Mentor junior engineers and share best practices across the team.
About You
* 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
* Strong hands-on experience with ElasticSearch, Kafka, Redis, or similar distributed systems.
* Proven background working with high-volume, high-throughput data environments.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript (other modern languages also considered).
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (Google Cloud and/or AWS) and infrastructure management.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about system design and performance.
What's on Offer
* The chance to work on impactful projects that directly improve online safety and user experience.
* A collaborative, talented team where technical input is valued.
* Exposure to challenging, large-scale data problems with room for innovation.
* Opportunities to grow your expertise and influence product direction.
