Calling all Band 6 Anaesthetic Nurses & ODPs!

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Operating Department Practitioner/Anaesthetic Nurse to join our perioperative team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will be working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

4. Experience working in a busy UK surgical or perioperative environment, preferably at Band 5 level or equivalent.

5. Strong clinical skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and when required to, lead the team.

Main duties of the job

8. Provide skilled assistance to clinicians and other members of the theatre
9. To deliver support and care to the required standards as directed within the specific clinical
10. Provide a service to all areas of the Trust where specifically related equipment or techniques are used.
11. Respond positively to unplanned activities outside of normal
12. Plan work in advance to ensure deadlines are met.
13. Act as a senior practitioner supporting and mentoring junior ODPs and other theatre staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Operating Department Practitioner to join our perioperative team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will be involved in anaesthetic and perioperative care, working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, maintain, and manage the operating theatre environment to ensure patient safety and compliance with infection control standards.

Assist with anaesthetic procedures and monitor patients throughout surgery.

Provide expert care in the recovery phase post-surgery, assessing and responding to patient needs.

Act as a senior practitioner supporting and mentoring junior ODPs and other theatre staff.

Contribute to continuous service improvement and participate in audits and training initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

14. RGN Level 1 / RODP
15. Anesthetic Qualification
16. Basic Life Support Course

Desirable criteria

17. Immediate Life Support Course

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

18. 2 years experience in anaesthetics
19. Willingness to undertake post registration work in specialty
20. Understanding of Clinical Governance

Desirable criteria

21. Experience of Audit and Research

Communication

22. Competent communication skills in English
23. Ability to effectively deliver sensitive / complex information to a variety of listeners

Planning and Organizing

Essential criteria

24. Ability to co-ordinate planned and unplanned activities to achieve short term goals.
25. Ability to manage own time for maximum efficiency in meeting unit goals

Leadership

Essential criteria

26. Ability to lead a team
27. Ability to co-ordinate patient care for a small number of individuals, including a variety of services
