We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Electrical Layout Engineers to join our Technical Communities based in the South West of England. Job Summary
Layout engineering consists of arranging the cable route and equipment position on the plant by interfacing with other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
* Requesting the input data for the electrical layout engineering of the building (cable lists, equipment data, etc.), analysing them and verifying their technical consistency
* Carrying out layout engineering or makes proposals to improve the layout and solve multi-disciplinary layout issues
* Lays out the various electrical equipment
* Designs cable trays in the 3D model
* Carries out checks of the consistency between input data (1D and 2D) and the 3D model
* Monitors and optimises electrical cable routing
* Writing the related technical documents (progress reports, equipment introduction note, change impact analysis, design procedures, handover reports, etc.)
* Coordinating layout activities by ensuring compliance with the layout rules
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Master’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent)
* In the absence of a master’s degree in electrical engineering, significant qualifications in an Engineering field with necessary work experience
* Although not immediately required, Chartership status or actively undergoing the process for attaining Chartership through a recognised international body will be highly considered when assessing candidates
* Strong organisational skills to achieve all requirements to time, cost and quality requirements
* Questioning attitude to avoid complacency and continuously challenge existing conditions, assumptions, anomalies and activities to identify discrepancies that might result in errors or inappropriate action
* Problem identification and resolution using a systematic rigorous and thorough approach to identify, fully evaluate and promptly address issues commensurate with their significance
* Knowledge of Electrical Standards/Norms (EN/BS), CDM and RIBA
* Experience of developing technical solutions, with design decisions validated through design interface
* Experience with electrical design of industrial projects and buildings on large engineering/infrastructure projects
* Experience in the preparation of technical specifications and other technical documents
* Experience in preparation of preliminary electrical designs (Single Line diagrams, schematics, general arrangement drawings, etc.).
