OT Solutions Architect - BirminghamReference Code: 475136-en_GBContract Type:PermanentProfessional Communities: Manufacturing & Operations EngineeringYour roleThe OT Functional Architect operates at enterprise and practice level to translate operational reality within water and utilities environments into robust functional and nonfunctional requirements for enterprise SCADA and IT/OT convergence solutions. The role ensures that proposed architectures are safe, operable, maintainable, and resilient, while enabling scalable transformation across multisite estates with minimal operational disruption.3. Key responsibilitiesLead enterprise and site-level discovery of OT capabilities, including PLC, SCADA, HMI, control strategies, alarm philosophies, interlocks, and safety constraints.Capture and model operational processes across the asset lifecycle, including commissioning, maintenance, incident response, overrides, escalation, and ICC-to-site handover.Define functional and non-functional requirements for remote monitoring and control, including authorisation models, auditability, fallback modes, and resilience expectations.Identify, assess, and quantify migration constraints across brownfield environments, including cutover strategies, downtime tolerances, rollback requirements, and legacy/vendor limitations.Develop site categorisation models (criticality, complexity, connectivity) and readiness assessments to inform phased enterprise rollouts.Act as the OT functional authority within IT/OT convergence initiatives, ensuring alignment between operational needs, solution architecture, and delivery approaches.Your profileYoull have a strong handson background in OT/ICS engineering within water or utilities, with direct experience of PLC and SCADA integration, commissioning, and operating safely in regulated environments. Youre comfortable working across complex brownfield estates and multivendor OT landscapes, and can translate operational realities into clear functional requirements and architectural inputs.
