We are looking for an enthusiastic Materials Management Officer with a flexible approach and good customer service skills to join our team based at Chichester Hospital.
Responsibilities and duties
* Provide a cost-effective materials management service in accordance with agreed procedures.
* Ensure replenishment of ward stocks using PDA/bar‑code technology to agreed levels.
* Review reorder levels and reorder quantities.
* Put away items in agreed stock locations on the agreed day and keep storage areas clean and tidy.
* Perform significant walking, manual handling, unloading and unpacking of goods from cages and restocking ward and department stock rooms.
* Support and contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's Procurement strategy.
* Identify and investigate opportunities to extend the Materials Management service.
* Actively participate in and support product appraisal and evaluation and assist with the coordination of products for trials on Materials Management items.
Requirements
* Good customer service skills and a flexible approach.
* Experience with PDA/bar‑code technology for inventory management.
* Ability to handle manual lifting and maintain a clean workspace.
Candidate consideration: If you currently work for another NHS Trust or UHSussex and you are applying as a secondment, you must seek agreement and authorisation from your current Trust or Manager. Secondments can’t be agreed without this approval. If you cannot obtain approval, you should refrain from applying unless you wish to take this role as a fixed term position.
