Were looking for a Transit Terminal Shift Co-ordinator to drive efficient daily operations and oversee inbound and outbound freight, ensuring safety, compliance, and best-practice processes. Youll use quality control tools to maximise profitability and service, while coaching and developing your team to build a strong, high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
Set and communicate daily tasks for the team, ensuring smooth operations
Maintain health, safety, and site security standards, including compliance with site rules
Uphold quality standards and deliver excellent customer service
Support the TT Shift Leader by ensuring reporting procedures and SOP compliance
Manage load yields to maximise profit and monitor performance indicators to meet targets
Liaise with other departments across Rochdale, the UK, and the wider branch network
Coach, mentor, and develop team members, including conducting appraisals and integrating tasks
Lead pre-shift and end-of-shift briefings, and ensure effective handoversMaintain continuous communication with internal contacts via email, phone, and in person
Oversee vehicle departures (SD, Export, LD) and arrivals/unloading (SD Import, LD Inbound)
Manage staff and driver interactions, absence management (holidays/sickness), bay operations, and trailer movements
Monitor MHE operations, including battery care and daily inspectionEnsure accuracy, completeness, and condition of consignments
Report damages, investigate accidents, and implement accident prevention measures
The Ideal candidate will have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong planning, organisational, and time-management abilities
A high level of attention to detail with strong accuracy
Confident problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
Excellent IT capability
A strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
Highly adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Confident, approachable, and professional in manner
Previous experience supervising or leading a team
A minimum of 2 years experience within an MHE operational environment or similar
Proven team leadership and team-building skills
Strong conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and professionally
