JobSummary:
This role isaccountable for managing projects which deliver SBC s strategicaims including the delivery of the highly challenging Recovery Planand Corporate Plan and management of associated financialpressures.
The ProjectManager is responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery ofprojects to ensure project objectives are clearly defined and canbe delivered within the agreedtimelines.
As an exemplarand experienced manager familiar with working in a complex projectenvironment this role is key in ensuring a robust projectinfrastructure is in place underpinned by governance and assuranceprocesses.
Influencing andworking with senior stakeholders to ensure agreed project outputsare delivered to enable benefits to berealised.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities:
This role isfocused on operating to ensure projects are being well defined thenmanaged and completed effectively and the activities and businessrationale remain aligned to the Council sobjectives.
It will enablehigh quality scrutiny as to the continued viability of projects tomeet objectives and benefits as stated within the businesscases.
The role willuse best practice whilst exploiting the use of the tools techniquesand standards to maximise efficacy of delivery of Slough s RecoveryPlan and CorporatePlan.
Accountable forthe management of robust governance structures for the delivery ofprojects to ensure effective monitoring ofcontrols.
Provideleadership to project teams ensuring effective delivery againststated aims.
Responsible foroverseeing risk and issue management ensures mitigations are inplace to address issues between elements of the project resolvingthese through negotiated agreement orescalating.
Accountable formaintaining the overall integrity and coherence of project& governance framework to support eachproject.
Planselfassurance activities and manage dependencies within theprojects.
Accountable fordeveloping and delivering a resourcing plan including management ofproject budgets to ensure delivery ofoutcomes.
Workingcollaboratively across the council and thinking commercially tosupport the delivery of best possible outcomes for the resident andbusinesses of Slough on a financially sustainablebasis.
Accountable forleading teams of people to build professionalism and expertisethrough development activities and to deliverprojects.
Maintain andnurture collaborative relationships as part of the TransformationTeam with internal partners and external organisations that supportthe delivery of project management expertise and Slough s corporateplan.
EssentialExperienceRequired:
Strongknowledge of the issues facing local government and those relevantto service / functional responsibilities together with the legalfinancial and political context of public sector management and thestatutory responsibilities of thispost.
Ability todeploy relevant business and commercial knowledge and techniquesincluding project and change management techniques researchmethodologies KPIsstandards.
Wideunderstanding of project delivery approaches and the impacts theycan have on successful service and projectdelivery.
Experience ofworking collaboratively with Senior Management politicians andother key stakeholders evidencing credibility and impact as aleader.
Evidence ofteam leadership able to inspire others to exceed expectations andchampion innovation in a largeorganisation.
Uptodateworking knowledge of the commercial approaches used within localgovernment and awareness in developing businessopportunities.
EssentialQualificationsRequired:
Essential to bequalified in Project Management (such as APMP or Prince2 or P3O orMSP) or be able to evidence more than 3 years experience in complexorganisation(s).
Additionalinformation tonote:
You will needto attend the offices in Slough at least 2 days aweek.
