Purpose of the Job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Create a Content Development Plan to meet the University’s recruitment marketing needs.
2. Co‑ordinate and update undergraduate and postgraduate course information for use on the University website and external course‑listing sites such as UCAS.
3. Develop visual content, including video and photographic material, aligned with the University’s Corporate Identity.
4. Produce creative content for recruitment campaigns, ensuring relevance and engagement across print and digital media.
5. Work with external agencies to plan, develop and deliver marketing material in a range of formats.
6. Build strong working relationships with colleagues in Communications, Recruitment and International to support integrated content delivery.
7. Work with alumni colleagues to develop plans and content celebrating alumni success.
8. Develop and manage the University’s content asset library.
9. Work with colleagues to develop digital assets for use in recruitment and marketing.
10. Manage external agencies delivering design, production or related creative services.
11. Report regularly on the performance of digital assets and use insights to improve outcomes.
12. Produce content in Welsh and English, ensuring a Welsh First approach to Welsh versions.
13. Research audience content needs and analyse how messaging is received and interpreted.
14. Present findings to senior managers.
15. Manage budgets and staff as required.
16. Monitor sector trends and competitor activity relating to marketing content.
17. Support the University’s Clearing process as part of the wider recruitment team.
18. Represent the University at UK recruitment events, UCAS fairs and presentations.
19. Travel within the UK where required.
20. Support Dynamic Working by working from home where appropriate.
21. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

22. The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

27. Educated to degree level in a related subject, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience or qualification.

Desirable

28. Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

29. Proven experience in a content development role with evidence of positive impact on brand awareness and engagement.
30. Experience developing content across multiple channels, including content tailored for Welsh‑speaking audiences.
31. Experience writing content in multiple formats, including long‑form and short‑form copy, and producing video and photographic content.
32. Experience managing video and photographic shoots for high‑quality outputs.
33. Experience managing creative agencies.
34. Experience of setting up and running systems for storing and managing content.

Desirable

35. Experience of content development in a large, complex organisation.
36. Experience in a similar role within higher education.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

37. The ability to speak and write Welsh fluently in a wide variety of situations is essential for this post.
38. Highly organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to meet targets.
39. Creative and innovative thinker, able to generate and deliver strong ideas.
40. Able to identify compelling stories and use them effectively across multiple channels.
41. Skilled in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, content‑management systems and video‑editing suites.
42. Able to build strong internal working relationships and collaborate effectively.
43. Able to use data and market intelligence to inform marketing decisions.
44. Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

45. Experience handling difficult negotiations internally and externally.
