Expert Lead Cardiac Physiologist – Cardiac Rhythm Management

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic individual to lead our Cardiac Rhythm Management Service. The role requires independent practice with expert-level skill and autonomy within a tertiary specialist Cardiac Rhythm Management service. The individual will also undertake a range of cardiac procedures supporting both secondary and tertiary cardiac services delivered by the Trust.
The successful applicant will be an expert, independent clinical practitioner, providing specialist clinical expertise at an advanced level. They will have a proven track record of teaching and training at both local and national levels. The post holder will support the departmental management team by contributing to strategic leadership and service development. They must demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise workload independently, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality diagnostic services.
Main duties
* Provide leadership and development for all practitioners in the Cardiac Physiology Department.
* Deliver tertiary‑level service for cardiac implantable devices and complex procedures.
* Exercise initiative and judgement in solving problems and making decisions that affect own areas of work, recognising when there is a need to refer problems to Senior Management or Consultant staff.
* Independently collate complex clinical information from multiple sources to determine optimal procedure methodology.
* Obtain and analyse complex data, perform calculations, determine interpretations, and compile accurate written complex technical reports for case notes.
* Communicate independent interpretations of complex technical and physiological data to guide physicians during high‑risk provocative procedures (e.g., complex device implantation, primary coronary angioplasty).
* Supervise individuals working or observing in the clinical environment, including visitors from other trusts and organisations.

Qualifications
* BSc Clinical Physiology or qualifying equivalent qualification
* MSc or practising in an equivalent expertise at this level in cardiac procedures
* IBHRE/BHRS Accreditation
* Teaching qualification (T4T, D32)
* State Registration with HCPC or AHCS
Experience
* At least 8 years of post‑basic experience in technical cardiology
* Demonstrated experience at the higher specialist level
* Practical and formal teaching of Cardiac Physiologists and other Health Care Scientists
* Organisation and provision of education/training courses at a regional level
* Multi‑disciplinary team work
* Tertiary cardiac physiology practice
* Invasive cardiac physiology practice
* Participation in cardiac research
Knowledge and Skills
* Competent to practise a wide range of cardiac physiology diagnostics and interventions
* Organisation of self and others
* Communication at all levels
* Ability to acquire and communicate highly complex knowledge in challenging environments
* High level analytical and judgement skills
* Advanced IT skills, data manipulation, etc.

Salary: £57,528 to £64,750 per annum, pro rata
