Overview
Swansea Bay University Health Board is inviting applications for a Biomedical Support Worker within Laboratory Medicine. The post holder will work as part of a team delivering laboratory results to in-patients, out-patients within our hospitals, and to GP surgeries within Swansea Bay UHB. The post is primarily for Morriston, Singleton and Neath/Port Talbot sites.
Responsibilities
* Receive and register patient samples, such as blood and urine, prior to analysis.
* Assist in the referral of specimens to specialist laboratories.
* Communicate laboratory information to users (patients, clinicians and other stakeholders).
* Deliver laboratory results to in-patients, out-patients and GP surgeries as required.
* Work as part of a team to provide support services for clinical and scientific staff within Laboratory Medicine.
Working Arrangements
* Evenings, nights and weekends on a rota basis.
* Travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.
Qualifications and Skills
* Data entry experience is desirable; keyboard skills are essential.
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
* Further requirements include the ability to travel between sites and, if applicable, holding a valid British driving license with access to your own vehicle.
