Overview
The BT group operates a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week. The role is responsible for ensuring that automation and AI capabilities within Managed Security Services meet market expectations and deliver fast, scalable, intelligent threat detection and response. It involves benchmarking against industry best practices, identifying gaps, and owning a roadmap to enhance internal capabilities. Additionally, the role leads the development of a robust Cyber Threat Intelligence offering, providing customers with tactical, operational, and strategic insights to proactively defend against evolving threats.
What You'll Be Doing
* Understand, document, and regularly review best practice use of automation and AI by Managed Security Services Providers (MSSPs).
* Work with operational stakeholders to benchmark BT Security use of automation and AI against this benchmark.
* Agree a prioritised roadmap of developments to close any gaps between current and best practice in the market.
* Establish agreed stakeholder success criteria as well as a reporting mechanism to measure success and report on progress.
* Own threat intelligence (TI) for BT Security, ensuring TI tools and processes are in place to support all managed security services and launching products and services that make direct use of TI such as attack surface management (ASM) and digital risk protection (DRP).
* Automate security operations using SOAR and other tools across the portfolio.
* Measure TI feed quality with feedback loops and usage metrics.
* Enhance TI through automation, consolidating feeds into a single view and prioritising alerts using risk scoring and exploitability data.
* Streamline incident response and compliance reporting by automating containment actions (e.g., isolating endpoints, blocking IPs/domains, disabling accounts).
* Integrate AI into SOC operations to prioritise alerts, assist analysts with GenAI, and scale adaptive automation.
Experience Needed to Be Successful in the Role
* Strong background in managed security services and cybersecurity, with deep understanding of the UK market.
* Proven experience across the full product lifecycle: ideation, development, securing funding, business case creation, implementation, and launch.
* Familiarity with security technologies such as SIEM, SOAR, and XDR.
* Demonstrated ability to build and execute portfolio growth strategies across diverse customer segments (e.g., SMB, CSP).
* High commercial awareness, including product selection, justification, and price negotiation.
* Skilled in translating business goals into actionable roadmaps that drive market growth.
* Strong understanding of automation and AI concepts and their practical application in managed security services.
* Ability to identify service opportunities and address implementation challenges related to emerging technologies.
* Experience applying automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and threat response.
* Demonstrable leadership and influencing skills, especially with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
* Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
* Comfortable navigating differing viewpoints and aligning stakeholders around strategic decisions.
