 
        1:1 Teaching Assistant – Calm, Encouraging Support for a Teen with ASD Derby City | Full-time or Mornings Only | Immediate Start Available Are you patient, positive, and passionate about helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a calm and encouraging 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a bright and creative 15-year-old male student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a Derby city school. Your role will be to gently encourage his participation in learning, helping him build confidence and stay engaged throughout the school day. About the Student: This young person thrives with consistent, low-pressure support and responds well to adults who are calm, understanding, and genuinely interested in his world. He has a strong interest in: * Computers and gaming * Anime and Japanese culture * All things Japan! If you share any of these interests, even better – they’re a great way to build rapport and spark conversation. The Role: * Provide 1:1 support in lessons and during unstructured times * Encourage participation in learning through gentle prompts and positive reinforcement * Help create a calm, predictable environment * Work closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to adapt strategies as needed Hours: * Full-time (Monday to Friday) or * Mornings only (e.g. 8:30am–12:30pm) – we’re happy to be flexible for the right person Ideal Candidate: * Experience supporting young people with ASD (in school or other settings) * Calm, patient and emotionally attuned * Able to build trust and connection over time * Interest in gaming, Anime or Japanese culture is a real plus!
