Job Description:
The Vacancy
Newcastle College requires a dedicated, enthusiastic, and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Building Services.
The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high-quality learning programmes in building services and general construction, across a range of levels of further education, higher education, and/or apprenticeship provision. The role also involves undertaking programme leadership, tutorial, and administration duties.
This post requires a strong background in building services or good all-round electrical maintenance. The candidate must have a proven track record of professional/vocational expertise in the domestic or commercial construction and built environment sector.
The candidate must be qualified to a minimum of level 3 electrical or industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification, and have English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe. Experience in programme leadership in FE, HE, and/or Apprenticeships, along with successful teaching and assessment practice, is desirable.
An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines, and possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with good IT skills, are essential. Working hours will be flexible, possibly including evenings and weekends according to demand. This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated, cohesive, and successful team.
The Building Services department is well-respected and positive, where colleagues work effectively together to ensure stakeholders get the best value from the curriculum.
