Position Overview
Section Supervisor Signalling – Brighton Stroudley Road. Salary: Starting from 62830 - 64292 (IMC3 non Phase 2bc). Hours: Full-Time. Shift Pattern: Days, Nights & Weekends. This is a safety‑critical role requiring a medical assessment and drug and alcohol testing.
Responsibilities
* Lead Specialist Teams: Supervise conductor rail operations, including weekend works and abnormal activities. Conduct regular team briefings to align on projects, overtime, and training needs.
* Plan & Coordinate: Work across disciplines to schedule and deliver works safely. Ensure the right tools, equipment, and skilled personnel are in place for both planned and reactive tasks.
* Develop Management Expertise: Manage rosters, monitor fatigue, and assess team competencies. Gain hands‑on experience in workforce planning and performance development.
* Ensure Quality & Compliance: Supervise and verify the quality of conductor rail works, ensuring compliance with standards. Implement safe systems of work, method statements, and instructions. Conduct inspections and prioritise arising tasks. Prepare resource specifications, method statements, and Safe System of Work Plans.
* Drive Efficiency: Assist in developing work plans for safe, efficient delivery. Support identification and proposal of asset renewals. Allocate resources and deliver work in line with maintenance plans.
* Maintain Records & Standards: Update systems accurately, undertake staff surveillance, and carry out compliance reviews. Support staff management, competence monitoring, and welfare.
* Commit to Development: Contribute to your own growth and help others progress.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience supervising worksites and ensuring safe, efficient delivery.
* Knowledge of resource planning and work organisation processes.
* Understanding of signalling inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
* Familiarity with relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
* Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
* Ability to promote and embed safe working behaviours.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to coach, influence, and develop others.
* Hold or be working towards NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
* Full driving licence and willingness to drive as required.

This is a safety‑critical role requiring a medical assessment and drug and alcohol testing. Flexibility is essential as the role involves working days, nights, and weekends.
