Electrical Technician
Great Western Hospital, Swindon
Full time – .5 hours per week. Mon-Fri 0 – 0 hours. On call weekend rota.

Main Purpose:
To provide safe and efficient maintenance of the electrical services and equipment within the hospital as directed by Estates Supervisors and Management
Main Accountabilities:
1. To carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of Services, Plant and Equipment UPS, LV Switch frames, HV Network and other equipment within all areas of the Hospital as directed by Supervisors or Managers.
2. Plan and schedule major interruptions, maintenance activities, co-ordinate work of contractors.
3. Provide detailed impact assessments and risks for significant shutdowns and operations to the Management Team for consideration and sharing with key stakeholders.
4. Analysis and diagnosis of faults in complex, multi-faceted equipment.
5. To carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance to a wide range of Plant and Equipment.
6. To work in accordance with all relevant Serco Policies & Procedures, Workplace Regulations and Best Practice Guidelines.
7. To take a proactive approach to the development and review of Health & Safety systems, work instructions and working practices.
8. To work in a safe and responsible manner with full regard for own and other’s safety at all times.
9. Be prepared to develop and mentor others within the team.
10. Be prepared to train and develop Apprentices and Trainees as appropriate and directed.
11. To attend work in compliance with the Computerised Time & Attendance System.
12. To use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
13. To be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, as requested by Supervisors or Managers.
14. Communicate to Supervisors or Managers unrepaired faults or defects or requirements for Spare Parts.
15. To attend on-site and off-site training as required.
16. To be aware of how the Technician Role influences Serco’s GWH Contract.
17. Contract and the wider company objectives.
18. Be prepared to take on Authorised Person Duties which could include but not limited to High Voltage, Low Voltage, Lifts, Confined spaces (All training will be provided) .

What you will need for the role:
21. Level 3 NVQ · th Edition BS1
22. Portable Appliance Testing
23. Electrical to Mechanical Conversion - preferable
24. BS 1 / 2 Electrical inspection & Testing - preferable
25. Member of appropriate technical body
26. HTM LV AP Training (or JSP eqv.) – desirable
27. HTM HV AP Training (or JSP eqv.) – desirable
28. Proven experience of working in a similar environment
29. Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Building Services
30. Good communication and customer service skills
