Coventry – Onsite
We are recruiting a 1st / 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to support an MSP client based in Coventry. This is an outside IR35 contract, primarily onsite, providing hands‑on technical support across a Windows‑based infrastructure.
This role is ideal for a proactive, customer‑focused engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, working closely with users, and supporting core IT systems in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to end users, both desk‑side and remotely
* Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
* Support and maintain Windows Server environments, including routine checks and basic administration
* Manage and respond to incidents, service requests, and changes via a ticketing system
* Troubleshoot issues related to Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and group policies
* Install, configure, and support desktop and laptop devices, peripherals, and printers
* Assist with server, storage, and infrastructure support where required
* Perform routine maintenance tasks, updates, and system checks
* Escalate complex or unresolved issues to 3rd line teams in line with MSP processes
* Ensure all work is documented clearly and completed in line with SLAs
* Provide clear communication and a professional level of customer service at all times
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in a 1st/2nd line IT support role
* Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server
* Good understanding of Microsoft technologies (Windows OS, Active Directory)
* Experience working within an MSP environment (preferred)
* Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
* Confident in communicating with users at all levels
* Ability to work onsite and take ownership of support issues
