Blaymires Recruitment is representing a family-run Building and Civil Engineering contractor based near Waterlooville, Hampshire
The company has been operating for over 80 years and have built a first-class reputation for completing construction works, ranging from large extensions, alterations, refurbishments, civil engineering and new build projects, with contracts ranging from £10K to £3Million.
The company is steadily growing, and they are looking for a driven manager who has excellent organisational skills to join the business. You will take the lead on managing small civil engineering and refurbishment projects across the South.
You will be joining a friendly and supportive contractor, who in turn will offer you a long-term career opportunity to grow with the business.
This role would suit either a Small Works Manager or a Contracts Manager who has an eye for detail and will manage all activities from inception through to handover.
As Small Works Manager, you will be responsible for managing all commercial and operational duties. This will include the financial monitoring and control of the contracts, ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance is maintained and the company's procedures and objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities of the Small Works Manager:
Pricing tenders for submission.
Plan projects and ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme without delays.
Ensure procurement and reconciliation of materials are carried out in accordance with company procedures to best value and to prevent delays.
Attend tender handover meetings and deliver pre-start meetings to the site team.
Produce and analyse progress reports, updated costs and forecasts if required.
Ensure correct commercial engagement of subcontractors, implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls.
Ensure weekly reviews of progress, budget resources and forward planning are carried out, and lookahead programmes are in place.
Set the highest possible standards of leadership in promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal obligations.
