About us:
At Macmillan Cancer Support, we’re here to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Editorial Lead to join our Cancer Information Development (CID) team and help shape the future of our information offer.
About the Role
As Editorial Lead, you’ll be at the heart of our cancer information strategy—developing and managing our publication schedule, leading editorial capabilities, and ensuring our content is accurate, inclusive, and impactful. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality support materials for people living with cancer and those close to them.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Managing the development and revision of cancer information content across print and digital formats.
* Ensuring all content meets editorial standards, including readability, tone of voice, and accessibility.
* Collaborating with teams across Macmillan—from UX and SEO to Brand and Communications—to align content with organisational goals.
* Using your expertise to improve editorial processes and drive innovation in how we support our audiences.
* Leading a talented editorial team and championing Macmillan’s 8 commitments to line management.
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has proven experience developing cancer or health-related information across formats.
* Is confident managing editorial schedules and motivating teams.
* Has excellent editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
* Can handle complex health information with clarity and empathy.
* Understands good design and can resolve layout issues effectively.
Who You’ll Work With
You’ll collaborate with a wide range of teams including:
* Editors, content developers, and performance analysts
* Brand, communications, and digital experience teams
* UX, SEO, photography, and video specialists
What You’ll Achieve
* Lead and empower your team to deliver high-quality content.
* Define and deliver editorial plans aligned with strategic goals.
* Ensure our cancer information is inclusive, accessible, and up to date.
* Help shape the future of how Macmillan supports people living with cancer.
In return, we offer a range of benefits including:
* 25 days holiday plus flexible bank holiday options, increasing by 1 day every year of service up to 30 days
* Pension matched up to 7.5%
* 120+ learning and development offers, with access to external professional qualifications
* Flexible working patterns, such as compressed hours, flexibility to work earlier or later around our core working hours of 10am-4pm
* Holiday buying and selling scheme, life insurance, free wills, retail discounts and much more
Recruitment Process
Application deadline: Mon 11th August at 23:59
