About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be an essential part of the classroom team, helping students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will provide tailored one-to-one and group support, adapting resources and strategies to meet each pupil's individual learning needs.
You'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a positive and engaging environment where every child can achieve their potential. The role requires patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and small-group support to pupils with diverse learning needs.
- Assist with lesson planning and delivery under the direction of the class teacher.
- Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
- Contribute to progress tracking and student development reports.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support each child's ongoing growth.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism, ADHD, or Challenging Behaviour.
- Trained in Team Teach or PMVA (or willing to undertake training).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Resilient, patient, and committed to promoting inclusive education.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
A qualification in education, childcare, or health and social care is desirable but not essential - passion, reliability, and the right attitude are equally valued.
