The Role
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for supporting the PL/PE/DE to ensure service is delivered for Door Trims with the right quality meeting customer expectations. This role is highly demanding as the LE needs to manage technical delivery and ensure design issues are resolved. The LE will work closely with the ML/DM and Customers to ensure service delivery is achieved. Responsible for the technical delivery, input/validate DFMEA/DVP, delivery quality, Right First-time approach, design issues reporting and supporting governance of all Client Engagements. Responsible to ensure all technical delivery processes are robustly deployed into project plans, design issue tracking/resolution mechanisms, design resource efficiency, project task forecasting, and upskilling/skill gaps.
Area of Responsibility
Planning
* Technical excellence in forecasting technical issues that may arise as a part of component delivery (design, packaging, supplier DFM etc).
* Plan, define, and inherit technical best practices, lessons learnt, and design/engineering principles into design delivery.
* Provide inputs and validate component delivery plans with respect to DFMEA/DVP.
* Provide benchmarking inputs into design/development of parts/systems.
* Provide/present technical core competency plans to grow company competency to win complex projects.
Execution
* Ensure early forecast of design issues and plans of action to resolve.
* Provide technical guidance as per domain requirements to PE/DE during a concept to delivery phase of the project.
* Keep track of issues arising out of the design phase and resolve them.
* Be the go-to person for PE/DE on technical issues.
* Be the technical excellence link between the customer and the project team to ensure robust and first-time-right approach.
* Work closely with the customer/PE/DE to ensure the project plan is on track for delivery.
* Help design team with supplier/CFT discussions of DFM/DFA/DFS.
* Assist team with completion of DVP actions and ensure robust/timely resolution of issues.
Knowledge / Experience
* Proven technical excellence with experience of engineering team management, and experience of product design, potentially involving complex systems integration or the use of multiple technologies.
* Ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues as they arise. Successful history from automotive domain is an added advantage.
* Excellent organisation skills, prioritising multiple project activities and guiding the team in the right direction.
* Proven track record; experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery.
* Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes.
* Ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise.
* Proficient in MS Office applications.
* Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above, or equivalent qualification or experience.
* Proficient in CATIA.
