Role Overview
This is a contractual role for a Nursery Room Leader responsible for supervising and delivering early years education within a nursery setting. The position requires leading a team of educators to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5. The role is critical in shaping foundational learning experiences and supporting developmental milestones during early childhood. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, childcare expertise, and compliance with safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a nursery room of up to 12 children, ensuring all activities align with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
* Plan, implement, and evaluate age‑appropriate educational programs that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
* Supervise a team of nursery assistants, delegating tasks and conducting performance reviews to maintain high standards of care.
* Monitor children’s progress through observations and assessments, maintaining accurate records and sharing updates with parents as required.
* Ensure adherence to Ofsted Early Years Inspection Handbook standards, including health and safety, safeguarding, and welfare requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification or equivalent, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a nursery or early years setting.
* Certified Paediatric First Aid training and knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children aged 0‑5.
* Experience using digital systems for tracking development records, attendance, and parent communication.
* Strong communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and regulatory bodies.
* Ability to manage conflicts, handle emergencies, and maintain a positive learning environment.
