Executive Head Chef - RELOCATE TO A PRIVATE ISLAND PARADISE IN AUSTRALIA - $110k AUD + Bonus + Fully Expensed Accommodation & All Living Costs
Come and build a life somewhere extraordinary..
Executive Head Chef opportunity with a high-end, laid-back, multi-award-winning luxury boutique hotel operation located on a stunning private island just off the coast of mainland Australia.
This world-class property has been voted the No.1 Boutique Hotel in Australia & the South Pacific on multiple occasions and offers a lifestyle and career opportunity unlike anything else currently available within the hospitality market.
Enjoy a world-class working environment and a genuinely exceptional island lifestyle.
Executive Head Chef – Salary & Package
Base salary circa $110k AUD + bonus, plus your own private on-site accommodation. All meals, utilities, internet, laundry and day-to-day living costs are provided, meaning your monthly outgoings are effectively zero.
The current Executive Chef relocated from Scotland more than a decade ago and has funded the construction of three properties during his time on the island.
You will only work approximately 9 months of the year but will be paid across the full 12 months. The property closes during the winter season, giving you approximately three months each year to travel, return home, spend time with family or pursue other interests. For those looking to further develop their skills, the owners regularly help arrange stage opportunities within Michelin-starred restaurants across the world.
In short, you enjoy the security of a permanent role whilst benefiting from a lifestyle rarely found within hospitality.
The Opportunity
The food philosophy is simple: world-class ingredients, exceptional seafood, beautiful presentation and flavours that allow the produce to do the talking. The hotel welcomes no more than 70 guests at any one time enabling you to curate incredible menu's to a very well travelled clientele.
The current Executive Chef describes the local fish as some of the finest he has worked with anywhere in the world. The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily alongside picnic hampers, BBQ experiences and regularly changing menus. You should therefore be highly organised, adaptable and comfortable working with exceptional fresh produce across multiple styles of service.
Strong fish preparation skills are essential, as is a solid understanding of pastry and bakery. Experience managing dietary requirements and delivering consistently high standards to well-travelled guests will be highly advantageous.
This is not a role for someone chasing the next Michelin Star, a larger brigade or simply the next rung on the hospitality career ladder.
We are looking to speak with established Executive Head Chefs who have operated within fine dining, luxury hotel or high-standard rosetted environments (minimum 2 Rosette level or equivalent) for a number of years.
Whilst technical ability is important, personality, leadership style and lifestyle fit are equally critical.
We are looking for the type of Executive Chef who takes genuine pride in ownership, enjoys mentoring others, develops strong teams and can be trusted to run a highly efficient operation without constant oversight.
Life On The Island
Life on a remote island is hugely rewarding, but it is different.
Weather can occasionally impact deliveries, ingredients can become unavailable and solutions need to be found. The successful candidate will therefore be calm under pressure, practical, resourceful and capable of adapting when plans change.
Candidates who have worked in remote locations, rural environments, country house hotels or grown up in close-knit communities may find themselves particularly well suited to this opportunity.
Equally, those who enjoy fishing, gardening, foraging, hiking, beaches and outdoor lifestyles often thrive in this environment.
This opportunity is likely to appeal to someone looking for more than simply their next job.
We are looking for a long-term Executive Chef and partner who are excited by the prospect of becoming part of a unique island community and building a life in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.
Families and candidates with young children are especially welcome to apply.
Longevity and stability within previous Executive Head Chef appointments will be viewed favourably.
Executive Head Chef – Eligibility – IMPORTANT
Please only apply if you can satisfy the following criteria.
You must be eligible for an Australian Working Holiday Visa which will cover both you and your partner during your first 12 months of employment.
Following this period, the business may consider longer-term sponsorship options for the right individual.
The primary eligibility requirements are that you are under 35 years of age at the time of travel and have no criminal convictions.
Partner Requirement
This opportunity is only open to candidates relocating with a partner. Those with young families are also welcome to apply.
Having recruited to the island for many years, we have found that individuals who relocate as part of a couple tend to settle into island life more successfully and remain with the business significantly longer.
This role is therefore aimed at people looking to build an incredible life and become part of a thriving local community of people from across the world rather than simply enjoy a short-term overseas adventure.
Suitable employment opportunities will be made available for your partner, even if they do not currently work within hospitality. The resort has a wide variety of departments and the ownership team will actively assist your partner in finding a suitable role.
For this reason, applications can only be considered from candidates whose partner is fully supportive of the move and genuinely excited about relocating alongside them.
If your experience aligns with the brief, we will contact you within a few days of receiving your application. Due to the volume of interest expected, we kindly ask applicants to respond promptly to calls and emails.
