An exciting full-time opportunity has arisen for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Monmouthshire, educating pupils from ages 11–18.
In this role, you will work closely with students who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN), as well as those experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. Support is primarily delivered through the school’s Specialist Resource Base (SRB), which supports learners with diverse needs. You will offer both one-to-one and small group interventions, helping students develop effective coping strategies while promoting their emotional wellbeing and academic progress. Previous experience within behaviour support or SEN settings would be highly beneficial and will support your development in this role.
This is a dynamic, practical role where no two days are the same. Confidence, adaptability, resilience, and a proactive attitude are essential to help maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where pupils can succeed. What You’ll Be Doing:
* Provide consistent one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupils
* Apply behaviour management approaches and effective de-escalation strategies
* Assist with personal care, mobility, and sensory support when required
* Promote confidence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
* Work closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team to support inclusion

What We’re Looking For:
* Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and behavioural needs or a background in youth support, care, or coaching would be highly beneficial
* Flexible and able to respond positively to change
* Strong communication skills with a clear commitment to safeguarding
* Confident in stepping up to supervise or manage a class when needed

Requirements (or willingness to obtain independently)
To demonstrate commitment to working in education, applicants must hold or be willing to apply for:
* Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration
* Be aged 18 or over
* An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
* Level 2 Safeguarding training
* A minimum of two professional references covering 24 months of employment
