We’re looking for an enthusiastic, people person who is great at building relationships to join our dynamic Environment team, a group that sits at the heart of the Council and plays a crucial role in delivering essential frontline services. This role contributes to meaningful initiatives aimed at promoting positive behaviour change, driving increased recycling efforts and enhancing waste management practices. You will be helping to promote a cleaner, more sustainable environment, as well as making a real and long‑lasting difference as part of our trailblazing Green Futures Programme, which supports our commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2027.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, confident, outgoing, people person to work with us to listen, communicate and engage with local residents, businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders to improve environmental awareness across the Borough.
You’ll need great verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build relationships within the local community to encourage them to engage with the Council on a range of environmental issues; the main focus will be waste and recycling.
As part of the role, you will prepare materials to publicise and promote the borough’s waste and recycling services and other environmental topics, ensuring information is clear, accessible, and engaging. This includes editing and updating the Council’s web pages to keep content accurate, relevant, and up to date.
Working with other members of the Environment team, you will play a key role in contributing to the development and implementation of environmental awareness and education programmes, including attendance at local events and the delivery of educational presentations in schools.
