Portsmouth, South East England, PO2 8BY Job Summary The Commander Maritime Reserves (COMMARRES) commands the Royal Naval and Royal Marines Reserve, known collectively as the Maritime Reserves (MR). The function of the MR Head Quarters is to set and shape the conditions by which the MR can generate and maintain capability at readiness support of the Naval Service. The MR comprises of around 3000 personnel who are geographically dispersed across the UK. There are 20 units and 19 specialisations that the MR HQ supports to ensure delivery of outputs in support to the Regular Service. The Deputy Business Manager role is crucial in ensuring financial activities across the MR are conducted in accordance with policy. Through excellent stakeholder engagement and communication, they provide advice and assurance on expenditure to Senior Management and wider MoD partners. The Deputy Business Manager carries delegated financial responsibility for an enabling budget that facilitates Reserve activity. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week Job Description As part of the Business Management Team you will support the wider business management functions across MR HQ and MR enterprise as part of a small team. The key responsibilities of the post are but not limited to: Provide financial advice and guidance to personnel across the MR to ensure compliance with policy. Produce financial reports and data to disseminate to stakeholders, managing expenditure within afforded budgets. Conduct regular reviews with financial points of contact across the MR to scrutinise expenditure and business. Manage and track financial requests, adjusting budget allocations where necessary. Analyse data and projected spend for year and escalating demands where required. Support the Annual Business Planning Cycle and associated processes. Manage a small team of military and civilian personnel. Manage a small team of military and civilian personnel. Person specification The role will provide all the necessary training to support the successful candidate. Desirable But Not Essential Skills Include Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective relationships in person and virtually. Experience with managing a team or working collaboratively as a team to deliver in support of customers. Experience in IT systems particularly the Microsoft suite (Excel especially). Willingness to work towards a qualification in Finance.
