We are looking for a commercially savvy and curious
Commercial Finance Business Partner
to join our non-foods business areas. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys digging into data to uncover insights, turning questions and ideas into actionable recommendations. You will work closely with commercial stakeholders, including buyers and traders, to challenge assumptions, offer fresh perspectives, and drive data-led decision-making.
You'll be responsible for:
* Analyse commercial and market data to generate insights that drive strategic decisions. Identify & highlight weekly, monthly and quarterly financial risk and opportunities for departments so that category directors and teams across the business can respond to them on a timely basis by understanding the environment of the area in which you work and implications of changes.
* Review periodic & support forward forecasts to enable managers across the business to understand current trends / position against budget and last year.
* Translate business questions into structured analysis and present findings in a clear and actionable way.
* Identify & develop reports, dashboards, and models to support decision-making
* Continually focusing on simplifying and improving processes.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the commercial team, ensuring insights are understood and used effectively. Proactively challenge existing ways of thinking, offering alternative views supported by data.
* Support building budgets for key financial metrics – understand, analyse and communicate them. Provide variance analysis and trending techniques to measure performance against budget, forecasts and business cases.
* Monitor & understand weekly working capital variances to last year and targets. Support in analysing forward forecasts of working capital to ensure targets are reasonable.
* Support a continuous improvement culture focusing on service, costs, cash flow by contributing in joint problem solving. Generate your own ideas for improvement and drive through to delivery.
About you:
* Strong commercial acumen with an ability to understand and interpret business performance.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – comfortable engaging, influencing, and challenging commercial teams with an ability to articulate financial data in a clear and transparent way.
* Curious mindset with a passion for using data to uncover insights and tell a story.
* Experience in working with large datasets and translating them into meaningful recommendations.
* Excellent Microsoft Excel or Google sheets skills
* Previous experience of supporting the delivery of finance plans and budgets
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
* A professional qualification of CIMA, ACA, ACCA, AAT or equivalent.
