Team and Role

You’ll be part of the Modelling and Tools team, collaborating with stakeholders across Digital, Data and Technology Services, IT suppliers, and users throughout the Environment Agency. You’ll contribute to forward-looking IT projects, including the continuing development of our Central Modelling Platform, a cloud-based environment designed to scale with future demands. We are constantly exploring new technologies and methodologies to ensure our modelling capabilities evolve in step with the needs of the organisation and the environment.


Experience/skills Required

We’re looking for: a proactive communicator who is passionate about driving continuous improvement and delivering value to users. You’ll be organized, self-motivated, and collaborative as well as skilled at gathering requirements, listening to diverse perspectives, and translating them into effective solutions.

* Advocate for consistency/strategic alignment in modelling practices, while supporting the adoption of new technologies/approaches.
* Resolve business challenges, promote adherence to model management principles, and help embed a culture of innovation and improvement.
* Opportunity to deepen expertise in service development and management, while exploring data science and cloud technologies.
* Help shape the roadmap to meet evolving user needs today and in the future.
* Experience with service management and cloud hosting is beneficial; awareness of open source tools is useful. A growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning are essential.


Other information

Your capability answers will be used to determine interview selection. Please draw out your skills and experience relative to this role in your response.

As this is a national role the working location is flexible, but you’ll have an EA office base location. Some travel and overnight stays will be required.

You’ll have an incident management objective in your development plan. We’ll support you to find a role to suit your needs and circumstances. Appropriate training will be given.

This is a permanent role and we are supportive of creating a diverse workforce.

Question: Describe a significant piece of work you have led, describing the challenges and the tools/techniques used to work with others and keep it on track.
