The post is based at the Acomb Health Centre, 1 Beech Grove, Acomb, YO26 5LD where CMHT is based too. The Consultant has a designated office space and secretarial support 0.6 and periodic Foundation Year Trainee placement. This post holder will provide clinical and educational supervision to any junior doctor posted with them. A review is being carried out about the secretarial support and the expectation is for this to improve in the future. There are no core trainee or Higher trainee attached to this post. Two Foundation year doctor posts are rotated amongst all CMHT teams. Trust Grade doctor post is allocated to substantive consultant posts within the locality based on yearly recruitment initiative and clinical needs of the post. There is no Speciality doctor post attached to this post.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing a community based psychiatric service to older people in the West side of the South-West Community Hub, working in and providing clinical leadership to the West older peoples team (6 DCC PAs) and an additional 1.5 DCC PAs to All York and Selby Memory Team. To work with fellow consultants, clinical colleagues and service managers to provide an assessment and treatment service for older people with mental health problems.
1. Working to provide clinical leadership to the West older peoples team and overall responsibility for the medical aspects of care of patients in that sector (6 DCC PA). They also provide an additional 1.5 DCC PAs to All York and Selby Memory Team.
2. To work jointly with colleagues from other disciplines and all relevant agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to patient care and treatment. TEWV supports New Ways of Working in Mental Health and the successful applicant will have a remit to contribute to multidisciplinary working in this context.
3. To hold Responsible Clinician (RC) status as defined within the Mental Health Act &/or to support a non-medical RC as Approved Clinician (AC) for inpatients when on duty on the out-of-hours on-call rota and maintain section 12(2) approval.
4. To assist colleagues in the Older Peoples service in planning, implementing and monitoring older peoples mental health services provided by TEWV.
