Temporary Accommodation Officer
Location: Maidenhead (Hybrid Working)Contract: 3 months+ (Immediate Start)Pay Rate: £20.16 per hour (PAYE) / £26.23 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Temporary Accommodation Officer to join a busy Local Authority team based in Maidenhead. Working within the Temporary Accommodation Team, you will play a key role in supporting households living in temporary accommodation, ensuring properties are safe, suitable, and effectively managed.
This is a fast-paced, high-volume role requiring strong multitasking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the allocation, letting, and ongoing management of temporary accommodation for homeless households
- Ensure properties meet health, safety, and suitability standards
- Carry out property inspections and address maintenance issues
- Support residents to sustain their accommodation and tenancies
- Work closely with Housing Options and Resettlement Teams to coordinate support
- Monitor and manage occupancy levels and voids
- Ensure the collection of accommodation charges and take appropriate action on arrears
- Maintain accurate records and case notes in line with service requirements
About You
- Experience in housing management, temporary accommodation, or homelessness services
- Able to work effectively in a busy, demanding environment
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing multiple cases and prioritising workload
- Knowledge of housing legislation and best practice (desirable)
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
- Business use insurance (must be confirmed with CV submission)
- Ability to pass a Basic DBS check
