There are lots of local shops and cafes close to the service with plenty of options of community activities for the people we support. The People we Support at Bennett Street are what makes Bennett Street what it is! Bennett Street offers support for 8 people with learning disabilities in a supported Living setting, some people we support have lived at Bennett Street for many years! The service provides support for people to maximise their independence and access a range of activities based on their interests. This includes going to evening clubs, working and volunteering, going to shops and the local cafes. We support 8 people of different ages ranging from 21 to 60 who have varying support needs and activities they like to do. Bennett Street is full of colourful personalities and is an exciting environment to work in with something new happening every day. Here at Bennett Street we have a great team of Support Workers who are always willing to advise new starters and ensure we are delivering the best support possible. Thorough shadowing and Milestones training will be provided within the service. The successful Support Worker will be providing a mixture of core support, as well as supporting people on a 1-1 basis out in the community. Please note, this role requires the flexibility to work a mixture of shifts, including some day shifts, sleep ins and Waking Nights. There is no moving and handling involved but there will be regular use of stairs as part of the role. A person-centred approach is key at Bennett Street. The people we support are involved in running the service, including how the home looks and supporting to plan and prepare their meals. As a Support Worker, you will support the people living at Bennett Street with some aspects of personal care, medication administration and overseeing of finances. You will support them to access the community and develop and maintain relationships with friends and family, as well as in the home with domestic tasks, such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. The successful Support Worker will possess strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and people we support, be flexible to work all shifts, including weekend work, sleep ins and waking nights. The successful Support Worker will need to be able to lone work, while supporting people we support to meet their goals and aspirations in the community setting.
