Dementia Support Worker – Part-Time (15 hours/week)

HospiceCare North Northumberland is a well-established, independent charity providing palliative care, dementia support, and bereavement services to a community of around 63,000 people. With an estimated 4,147 local residents living with a dementia diagnosis, our support is more vital than ever.
We are excited to be expanding our Dementia Support Services and are looking for two enthusiastic and compassionate Dementia Support Workers to join our team. Each post is for 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the needs of the service and team.
About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families across North Northumberland. You'll be involved in delivering a range of supportive services and engaging activities including:
* Seated exercise classes
* Walking football sessions
* "Canny Cuppa" cafés – providing a relaxed space for peer support, conversation, and laughter
* Home visits and individual support
* Activities that promote wellbeing, such as crafts, music, and games
You'll work alongside our specialist dementia nurse to provide compassionate care and meaningful engagement to those we support.
About You
Experience working with people living with dementia is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. More importantly, we're looking for someone who:
* Has a warm and friendly approach
* Enjoys social interaction and can bring a sense of fun to group activities
* Has interests in crafts, music, or creative engagement
* Can lead small group activities confidently
* Makes a great cup of tea and enjoys a good laugh

Person Specification
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential: NVQ Care Level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience of community care provision for patients with Dementia.
Work experience
Desirable: Experience of working in health and social care setting is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Aptitude:
Essential: Good communication skills with people living with Dementia. Flexibility and adaptability
Interpersonal skills
Organisational skills in the management of own workload
Desirable:
IT computer literacy to be able to use Clinical systems and provide activity data reports.
Resilience
Essential :
Ability to undertake and supervise physical activity sessions for patients with Dementia.
Other Factors
Essential: Independently mobile and ability to travel throughout Northumberland.
