At Chattaway, we're looking for a brilliant Bookkeeper to keep our financial world spinning smoothly. You'll be the guardian of our numbers, the keeper of our accounts, and the hero who ensures everything adds up across our all venues.
About the Role
We're looking for a confident, detail driven Bookkeeper who enjoys working with Xero and thrives on keeping financial systems organised and compliant. You'll manage our daily financial records, support VAT returns, reconcile accounts, and help ensure our suppliers, venues, and internal teams have the accurate financial information they need.
Key Responsibilities
Bank Reconciliation
* Reconcile all bank accounts in Xero.
* Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
Supplier Management
* Record and reconcile supplier invoices.
* Track outstanding balances and ensure timely payments.
* Liaise directly with suppliers to resolve any invoice or payment queries.
VAT Returns
* Work closely with our accountant to prepare VAT submissions.
* Ensure VAT entries in Xero are accurate and compliant with HMRC guidelines.
Invoices & Payments
* Process supplier invoices and payments.
* Maintain clear records of paid and unpaid items in Xero.
Cash Handling & Reconciliation
* Reconcile cash payments using takings sheets.
* Ensure daily venue revenue is accurately reported in Xero.
* Manage petty cash entries and identify any discrepancies.
Additional Responsibilities
* Produce monthly financial reports, including venue specific P&Ls.
* Maintain organised financial records for audit purposes.
* Keep Xero up to date and accurate at all times.
* Track business expenses and support budget monitoring with GMs and Head Chefs.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and external accountants.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Bookkeeper (hospitality or SME experience is a plus).
* Strong working knowledge of Xero.
* Experience preparing VAT returns.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication skills and confidence working with suppliers and internal teams.
* Understanding of UK bookkeeping principles and financial compliance.
Working Hours
Part time office hours with some flexibility around key financial deadlines (such as VAT return periods).
