We are excited to offer a fixed term position as Clinical Fellow within the Paediatric team.
This is a full time 12 month position (with the potential to be extended) working 40 hours per week plus on calls to support the Tier 1 rota (1 in 11 shift pattern).
Successful applicants will work in a busy acute Paediatric unit and a level 1 Neonatal unit. We currently have a Tier 1 team with a mixture of Clinical Fellows, GPSTs, FY1 and FY2.
Main duties of the job
We are happy to welcome doctors who wish to just have a taster of general paediatrics prior to doing something else, or those committed to a career in the speciality.
The Clinical Fellow post is not an approved training post. However, we strive to provide the successful applicant with the same training and educational experience as the trainees.
We expect all our doctors to actively engage in departmental educational activities and undertake audits during their time with us.We are located on the doorstep of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park and the Menai Straits. Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS (or equivalent).
* Registration with the GMC.
* Evidence of training progression.
* APLS/NLS
* BLS
Experience
* Completed foundation programme (or equivalent outside the UK).
* 6 Months NHS experience (excluding clinical attachments)
* Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).
* NHS Experience (excluding clinical attachments)
Clinical Skills
* Competent in history taking and examination skills.
* Competent in basic life support and resuscitation skills.
Communication Skills
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
* Able to establish good working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team
Personal Qualities
* Good organisational skills and time management.
* Able to function successfully under pressure.
Other Requirements
* Willing to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate.
* Ability to fulfil all the duties of the post including weekend working and night shifts.
* Prepared to be flexible in working patterns
* An understanding of the principles of Clinical Audit.
* Demonstrate some experience in teaching undergraduates.
* Computer literate (Microsoft Word/Excel/Access or equivalent).
* Completed an audit project.
