Registered Manager Childrens Home (EBD) Erdington Role Overview You will manage and lead a small, specialist residential home in Erdington caring for up to 3 children with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Youre responsible for high-quality, trauma-informed care, compliance with Ofsted and Childrens Homes Regulations 2015, and creating a nurturing, safe environment where children can thrive. Key Responsibilities Operational & Strategic Leadership Lead daily operations in line with Childrens Homes Regulations and Ofsted Quality Standards. Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor a small dedicated team. Oversee staffing rotas, ensure daytime and sleep-in duty coverage, and provide on-call support. Manage the homes budget, resources, and daily financial administration. Child-Centred Care & Safeguarding Develop and maintain personalised care plans, risk assessments, and Positive Behaviour Support Plans. Promote emotional regulation, structure, life skillsand preparation for adulthood. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead on site and ensure all staff follow safeguarding protocols. Ensure the home is a warm, well-maintained, safe, and homely environment. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Maintain compliance with Ofsted inspections, including creating reports, evidence packs, and addressing action plans. Conduct regular audits of care records, risk assessments, health & safety checks, and managers reviews. Own and review the Statement of Purpose & Young Persons Guide, ensuring currency and relevance. Team Leadership & Development Provide regular one-to-ones, supervision, and annual appraisals to staff. Identify and address training needsensuring trauma-informed practice and EBD expertise. Foster a reflective, supportive culture with emphasis on continuous learning and best practice. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with local authorities, social workers, schools, therapists, health professionals, and families. Attend LAC reviews, safeguarding meetings, and represent the home professionally. Promote community integration and inclusion for children. Person Specification Essential Qualifications & Experience Level?5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Level?3 Children & Young People Workforce qualification, or equivalent. Minimum 2 years in residential care leadership as a Manager or Deputy. Proven experience with EBD/challenging behaviours and trauma-informed approaches. In-depth knowledge of Childrens Homes Regulations, Children Acts, safeguarding, and Ofsted frameworks. Experience managing budgets, rotas, and operational administration. Full UK Driving Licence (vehicle access beneficial). Enhanced DBS clearance, with eligibility to register with Ofsted.
