Do you love working with children? Would you like to work for a forward-thinking and innovative NHS organisation? We have the perfect role for you!
About the Role
I'm Mat, the Service Manager for our Paediatric Speech and Language Service, and I’m excited to share an opportunity for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our team.
In this role, you will work closely with qualified Speech and Language Therapists across South Cheshire. Your responsibilities will include delivering treatment sessions—sometimes independently—creating resources, managing caseloads, and liaising with children, parents, and multidisciplinary team members in various settings.
You will receive support from our experienced therapy assistants, speech therapists, and team leaders. We are committed to promoting personal and professional development.
This is a Band 4 role, and we prefer candidates with previous experience working within a SALT team, ideally in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implement SALT assessments and care plans across different settings, both as part of a team and independently.
2. Collaborate with SALT and education teams to manage caseloads and identify priorities.
3. Evaluate assessment and intervention effectiveness and assist in setting new goals.
4. Create SALT resources for use in various environments.
5. Contribute to the SALT timetable for service delivery in schools.
6. Assist with bespoke training for education staff, parents, and carers as appropriate.
7. Support whole-school training in areas relevant to Speech and Language Therapy.
About the Organisation

It manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. Established as an NHS Trust in 1991 and a Foundation Trust in 2008, the Trust employs nearly 5,000 staff and offers a wide range of services including emergency care, maternity, outpatient services, therapies, and children's health.
The Trust is part of the Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), which offers community services across South Cheshire and Vale Royal. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust was nationally recognized for its 'Be Safe Be EquiPPEd' campaign, promoting PPE safety. The 2020 NHS Staff Survey highlighted improvements in safety culture, with 92% of staff feeling their role made a difference, and the Trust has been acknowledged for its workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.
