Pharmacy Technician

Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated GPhC‑registered technicians to work in a dynamic and lively department, becoming part of a rotational team working across three sites. We also welcome applications from pre‑registration students who will be qualifying and registering this year.
The successful applicant will take a proactive approach with strong problem‑solving skills, excellent customer service, be self‑motivated and committed to patient and customer care by actively displaying the Trust values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect and teamwork.
Main Duties
Rotational technicians will undertake a 12‑month development programme working in all aspects of the pharmacy department, including in‑patients and outpatients dispensaries, distribution and, when required, aseptic services. They will have the opportunity to undertake an accredited checking qualification and may participate in the medicines management service under the direction of lead technicians.
Working Hours
The post is a Band 4 rotation, including one late night, weekend shifts and bank holiday rota. Most full‑time staff work their hours over four days, but other flexible arrangements are supported. Working times may be subject to reasonable change in the future.
Qualifications
* BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
* NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy L3 Integrated Apprenticeship, or Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
* Registered with the GPhC (or able to register on completion of the course)
* Accuracy Checking Dispensed Medicines qualification completed within 1 year of undertaking the post
Experience & Knowledge
* At least 1 year experience in hospital pharmacy or completion of a 2‑year training post in hospital pharmacy
* Knowledge of dispensing processes, computer software, dispensary processes, controlled drugs legislation, medicines storage and security
* Willingness to undertake trust driver assessment

* Effective communication with healthcare professionals and the public
* Ability to work methodically, across multiple sites, and under pressure
* Ability to work independently and under supervision as required
* Commitment to late evenings, weekends and bank holiday rota

Other Requirements
* Ability to work from both hospital sites as required
