Job Description
The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network, with over 200,000 vehicles per day. It is a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, requiring high levels of performance, constant improvement, and repairs to ensure smooth operation.
We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate, and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are seeking a H&S Manager responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring processes to manage health, safety, and well-being risks within the project. The role supports our ambition to be a safe and responsible company for our people, supply chain partners, and communities.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day management, guidance, support, and mentoring to other HSW advisors.
* Act as a visible champion for HSW, engaging with operatives and managers.
* Oversee the implementation of organizational standards related to HSW at a local level, providing feedback to HSW Managers on improvements or conflicts.
* Monitor the delivery of the communication strategy to keep HSW on the operational agenda and report on communication effectiveness.
* Support the delivery of appropriate HSW training based on project needs.
* Support and undertake targeted inspections of HSW management systems and supply chain audits, tracking and supporting actions to close out.
* Manage own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule, and conduct inspections and HSW conversations with site and depot teams.
* Prepare and communicate timely reports and presentations on inspection findings, tracking, and supporting actions.
* Represent the HSW function positively during meetings and conference calls.
* Review work activities against safety systems, taking appropriate actions and providing documented advice.
* Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring effective handling and closure of actions.
Qualifications
Essential
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH)
* Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
* Current CSCS Card
* Full, clean driving license
* Experience managing a team of HSW Advisors
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms at an intermediate level
Desirable
* Site-based construction experience
* Knowledge of highways construction or maintenance environments
* Experience working in a Joint Venture
