Main duties and responsibilities
* Manage delivery, processing, and approval of weekly and monthly payroll for Decora and other Mzuri Group companies.
* In conjunction with the Senior Payroll Officer, undertake annual tasks including life assurance and health cash plan renewals, PAYE settlement, P11d submissions, salary reviews, and annual leave entitlements.
* Liaise with 3rd party payroll, insurance brokers, health cash plan, and pension providers.
* Manage monthly payroll tasks such as health cash plan joiners/leavers, charitable giving, and childcare vouchers.
* Manage the payroll inbox, ensuring queries are responded to and resolved promptly.
* Provide payroll reports for month-end reconciliations to Decora and the wider Mzuri Finance teams.
* Provide payroll data to external bodies including auditors and insurers when required.
* Manage employer obligations related to pensions, weekly administration, and auto-enrolment.
* Ensure statutory payments (e.g., SSP, SMP, SPP) are calculated and processed.
* Collaborate with the Senior Payroll Officer and HR team to complete payroll-related administration throughout the employee lifecycle, including new starter processes, statutory payments, annual leave, and leaver processes.
* Administer the Time and Attendance System accurately, including absence reporting, shift schedules, and leave records.
* Prepare weekly and monthly headcount reports and update employee logs.
* Administer return-to-work processes.
* Handle general payroll/HR administration and system updates.
* Process agency workers' timesheets.
* Update payroll work processes and SOPs.
* Stay informed about legislative or compliance changes affecting payroll.
* Contribute to payroll projects as directed by line managers, aligned with HR objectives.
* Perform other duties as required by management.
Essential requirements
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll within a medium to large business.
* Understanding of employer payroll, compliance, and pension obligations.
* Knowledge of Payroll, HR, and Time and Attendance systems.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
* Confidentiality and professionalism.
* Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
* Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
Desirable requirements
* Experience with payroll software packages.
* Knowledge of employment terms and conditions, and legislation.
* Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments.
* Knowledge of PAMS and North Time Data / Workflow Infinity.
