About the role
Working across the city, the Neighbourhood Ranger is a member of the Environmental Services team who helps to deliver a seamless and efficient service, whilst being responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s standards are met.
In this particular role you would be assigned but not limited to our Re Use Centre where duties would include assisting with the unloading and loading of the lorries, sorting of materials such as wood, metal, electronics, white goods and furniture along with other miscellaneous household items into the correct waste streams or our in house recycling system. As a neighbourhood Ranger other duties may include caretaking and cleaning services, grounds maintenance, property clearance, and securing empty homes. Liaising with residents, neighbourhood housing staff, and other members of the organisation will also be required. The Neighbourhood Ranger is responsible for ensuring that our neighbourhoods are safe for customers and that the organisation complies with health and safety best practice and legislation.
Our ideal candidate for this role is someone who:
* Has experience in working in a fast-paced recycling environment.
* Has experience of caretaking and/or cleaning duties and/or grounds maintenance services.
* Has experience of completing minor communal repairs involving basic carpentry, painting and masonry skills.
* Has an understanding of Health and Safety at Work.
* Has a proven ability to work independently within a team and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
* Has excellent organisational skills with a focus on attention to detail.
* Is able to work on own initiative, prioritising own workload to meet targets and deadlines.
* Is committed to providing great customer care.
