JOB TITLE: Wood Machinist
LOCATION: Carrickfergus
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Producing quality joinery items as per client specifications
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm and 8.00am to 1.00pm on Friday.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Manager
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out a range of wood machining duties within a modern workshop premises, using a variety of equipment and tools.
Responsibilities
1. Producing quality machined items as per client specifications.
2. Providing a high quality finish to jobs, in line with job specifications and customer requirements.
3. Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping by ensuring that all areas of the workshop are kept clean and tidy at all times.
4. Adhering to all relevant health & safety requirements specified by the Company.
5. Interpretation of working drawings and specifications without supervision.
6. Ensure accurate marking out of various elements of joinery before commencement of machining
7. To participate and support all Company initiatives with compliance of procedures and requirements for ISO & 45001, FSC and Investors in People Standards.
8. Any other duties required for the effective operation of the post as deemed by Management.
Person Specification
Experience
* A minimum of 2 year’s previous experience in a similar workshop environment
Skills
* Demonstrate a good knowledge of wood making machinery.
* Good time management.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* Good communication.
Other
* Flexibility as overtime will be required on occasions to ensure the efficient delivery of service.
Desirable Criteria
* A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Wood Machining (or equivalent)
